Giving to Our Shops

article-donate-Shops-2We rely totally on donated items. We take all sorts of ‘Anything and Everything’ and turn it in to cash i.e. ‘Rags to Riches’ – non-saleable textile items are sold to our re-cycling company and suitable items i.e. blankets and towels go to the Sanctuary as animal bedding, we no longer take quilts. Working electrical items can be PAT tested by our qualified tester based at our Witney shop, prior to going on sale.

The most common words used by our customers to describe our shops “Like Aladdin’s Cave!”  So, whether you would like to come and make a regular commitment to enjoy some time to become a team member, or if you could donate some items that you no longer need in your life, or just to come and seek that ‘Special Item’ in our shops, there is always some way that you can help support our Sanctuary.

Gift Aid

article-donate-Gift-aidThe Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary is entirely reliant on donations from supporters. We receive no Government funding. However if you are a UK taxpayer The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary can claim 25p from HM Revenue & Customs for every pound you donate. You need only make a Gift Aid declaration and then a £10 donation from you is worth £12.50 to The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, and yet £10 is all you will pay.

You can set up Gift Aid online simply by registering your details on this website and ticking the Gift Aid box during the process.

In order to claim Gift Aid we must have your name, including your first name or initials, and your full address including postcode. Please check your details are correct. Once registered for Gift Aid, we can claim 25% of ALL the donations you have made to The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in the last 4 years and all future donations until you cancel your declaration.

What if my circumstances change?

If you change your name, your address, or you no longer pay tax, please notify us by writing to: The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, The Village Green, Watlington Road, Stadhampton, Oxford, OX44 7UB.

Leaving a Legacy

article-donate-legaciesLeave a gift to The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in your will. Leaving the charity a gift in your will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support a cause you hold dear. It costs nothing during your lifetime but will have a powerful impact for years to come.

Your gift will enable us to continue the work of the Sanctuary as regards its development and the care of the animals entrusted to us.

If you already have a will it is very easy to add a charitable bequest. Very few words are needed to make what is known as codicil to your will, altering the provisions slightly without changing your whole will. Many people use this simple document to benefit their favourite charity.

If you do not yet have a will it is worth giving this consideration. Your will is one of the most important documents you will ever draw up. It sets out how you want your property and other assets to be dealt with after your death. A valid will brings peace of mind knowing that you have taken decisive action on something that is very important to you.

When writing your will there are three main ways you can support us:

  • A percentage of your estate – after you have taken care of those you love then you can give a percentage of what is left to support your cause. For many charities this form of gift is the most valuable.
  • A monetary gift, where you determine in advance an amount that you would like to contribute to OAS.
  • A specific gift enables you to give an item of value, a piece of furniture, investments or land that will benefit OAS.

Collection Boxes

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary charity collection boxes are held by individuals and placed in over 100 shops and businesses throughout Oxfordshire. They are a valuable source of income for the Sanctuary raising over £5000 each year. We are always looking for new placements and if you know of any shop, pub or business in your neighbourhood which might be willing to support the Sanctuary in this way please contact us.

Some of our supporters help by holding one of our collection boxes in their home and they and their family put in loose change. The great advantage is that they are not committed to contributing any specific amount and can put in whatever money they like, whenever they can. You will also see these collection boxes in shops and businesses around Oxfordshire. We are most grateful to those proprietors who help us in this way.

Other Ways to Donate

Pay-Roll-GivingPayroll Giving

Payroll Giving is an easy and tax efficient way for employees to donate to charity.

Donations are deducted straight from an employees gross salary (before tax is deducted) giving immediate tax relief, so each £1 donated will only cost the employee 80p (or 60p if a higher rate tax payer).

Ask your employer for more information about setting up Pay Roll Giving.
