After two months of battling grey skies, soggy walks and mud that goes up to your knees, we’re all hoping spring is just around the corner.
The good news? While the weather’s been miserable, things inside the sanctuary have been anything but β another 55 animals found their forever homes in February.
5 rabbits hopped to pastures new, including Darwin, Diogo, and three from the Seven Dwarfs group: Sneezy, Grumpy and Happy. What a bunch!
12 dogs also went home, starting with Mary, our 10-year-old long-coated Chihuahua. Mary was followed by Bucko the Greyhound, Julio the Chihuahua, Margaret the French Bulldog, Millie and Sienna (both crossbreeds), Toby & Dancer (a pair of handsome Greyhounds), Tex (crossbreed), Norman β another Greyhound β Mungo the Shih-Tzu, who went through a lot of medical treatment to get him ready, and finally, Coco the Labrador.
As usual, many, many cats and kittens purred their way into the hearts of their new servants: Tony, Neil, Coco, Lou, Zeke, Lenny, Dodo, Soto, Diva, Lily, Peaches, Daisy, Bernard, Trixie, Moe, Colonel Mustard, Mrs Peacock, Professor Plum, Reverend Green (all renamed, of course β a shame, but understandable), Bubba, Snowy, Roshan, Jennifer, Aoife, Riona, Stella, Bella, Luna, Mr Chips, Oreo, Luna, Percy (more below about him), Mavis, Betty and Django.
As you can imagine, the spaces left by these departures are already filled, and there’s a whole new bunch to look after. You’ll hear about them in the months to come.
As we all cross our fingers for drier days and a bit of sunshine, thank you to all our supporters for enabling us to do this.
Here’s to a bright spring β for them and for us.
Six Little Fighters
Welcome to the OAS family, little ones π
These six little orphaned kittens arrived in our care today after their mum tragically passed away. π
They’ve gone straight to our amazing fosterer, who’ll be giving them around-the-clock care β feeding, toileting, and of course, plenty of snuggles. π»
Our thanks go to Little Paws – Woodcote for trusting us with their care, and to our fabulous fosterer for giving them the best chance of survival. πβ€οΈ
Once again, a great example of rescues working together and helping each other. ππ
Percy: From Foster Cat to Forever Family
At just five months old, Percy hadn’t had the best start in life. He was involved in a car accident just before Christmas, leaving him with a nasty pelvic fracture. Unfortunately, he wasn’t microchipped or neutered, and despite numerous pleas from West Bar Vets, no one ever came forward for him.
Sometimes it’s just meant to be β€οΈ When foster fail turns into the best success story.
Remember little Percy from last month? The adorable cat who had a fractured pelvis and then needed a femoral head and neck excision. Such a brave little soul! π»
Well, after spending several months in his foster homeβ¦ you know where this is going, don’t you? π€£
His foster family have doted on his every need β endless cuddles and no end of support when he’s needed it most. β€οΈ
And today, they made it official and offered this handsome young man his forever home. Knowing he’s staying with his family is the best possible outcome. The bond they share is something special. π»
Thank you so much to Percy’s FOREVER FAMILY for giving him the best home. π
Bertha: Do Not Disturb
Bertha was having a lovely dream about unlimited Dreamies and underfloor heatingβ¦until she was RUDELY awakened for “a quick photo.” π
The audacity. The disrespect. The betrayal.
She will be filing a formal complaint. π€£πΎ
