As summer gets into full swing, so has the challenge of keeping everyone cool through one of the hottest spells we’ve seen in years. Like a lot of organisations, we found ourselves hunting for air conditioning units just as demand shot up across the country.
Thanks to careful planning and constant monitoring by our team, our animal accommodation stayed at safe, comfortable temperatures throughout. Our staff room, on the other hand, became distinctly less bearable. After a determined search we managed to track down some units, and the team finally got a bit of relief while they carried on caring for the animals.
As ever, our staff and volunteers went above and beyond to keep every animal happy, healthy and comfortable through the heat. Their commitment never stops amazing us, whatever the weather throws at us.

Tiggywinkles Kittens
A few weeks ago, this little kindle of kittens was handed in to Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital. They asked whether we could help by taking them under our wing, and of course we said yes.
One of our wonderful foster families was able to step in for several weeks, giving them a loving home and plenty of snuggles. Now nine weeks old, they have been vaccinated and microchipped, ready for rehoming.
We’re delighted to say that several families from our waiting list came to meet them over the past few days, and every one of them has now found a home. Badger, Hedgehog, Mole, Otter, Mouse and Shrew have all left the sanctuary. Good luck in your new homes, little ones.
Thank you so much to our adopters for giving them such fabulous homes, and to their foster family for all the love and care they gave them at such an important time. 😻
Zoomer is still looking for a home
How has this handsome lad not found his home already?
Zoomer is a stunning one-year-old Lurcher who was found as a stray. When he first arrived he was very shy and thoroughly overwhelmed, but every day a new part of his lovely personality shines through, and it’s been a joy to watch his confidence grow.
He’s a real gentle soul. Shy at first, but genuinely affectionate once he feels comfortable, and he’ll bring a lot of joy to the right family with his mild-mannered nature.
Zoomer is looking for:
- An adult-only home
- The chance to live with another dog, pending successful meets at the sanctuary
- A private, secure garden with a minimum of 6ft fencing
- Patient adopters who will give him time to settle
If you think you could be Zoomer’s person, you can find out more here: https://oxfordshireanimalsanctuary.org.uk/dogs/zoomer/
Three Goats. Three Personalities. One Small Charity That Looks After Them All.
Snowey, the deposed emperor. Tigger, the gentle escape artist. Bailey, the affectionate opportunist who took charge the moment he arrived.
Behind the personalities are three goats who depend on us for everything: food, bedding, vet care, hoof trims, shelter, and the kind of long-term, committed care that makes a sanctuary a sanctuary.
We don’t receive any government funding. Everything we do is made possible by people who choose to support us.
If you’ve got a soft spot for any of them, please consider sponsoring. From £5 a month, you’ll directly help cover the cost of their care, and you’ll get to follow their ongoing stories, squabbles and all.
Snowey, Tigger and Bailey would all very much like to be your favourite.
(Bailey would particularly like to be your favourite.)
