As the nights draw in and pumpkins glow on doorsteps, October has been a busy and heartwarming month here at Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary.
While the season brings its share of spooky fun and fireworks, it’s also a difficult time of year for many pets. We know how unsettling the loud bangs and flashes can be, so we hope your own animals are safe, settled and coping well.
Here at the Sanctuary, our focus remains firmly on the animals in our care – helping them find comfort, calm and, most importantly, loving new homes.
We’re thrilled to share that a remarkable 69 animals found their forever families in October, thanks to the tireless dedication of our staff, volunteers, and incredible supporters.
That includes 7 dogs, 3 rabbits, and an impressive 59 cats and kittens. Each adoption represents a fresh start and, with winter fast approaching, a warm home for every one of them is the best treat of all.
Our Canine Companions
Three Greyhounds – Fenton, Dancer and Badger – each trotted off to their own loving homes this month. They were joined by Brian the Springer Spaniel, Harry the Lurcher, Bertie the crossbreed, and another graceful Greyhound, Phoenix.
Our Rabbit Residents
Twister and Solero, a bonded pair from our summer-themed Ice Lolly bunch, went home together, while Beatrice hopped off to start a new life with her bonded partner too.
Our Fabulous Felines
October’s adoption list for cats and kittens is truly bursting with success stories!
Ben & Geri, Crush, Violet, Mister Hop, George, Stella, Scrappy, Coral, Phoebe, Haymitch & Primrose, Sadie, Phoenix, Margot, Rayne, Katniss, Abigail, Squirt, Otter, Squirrel, Phoebe (yes, a different one!), Oscar, Tara Lewis, Bubble, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Huckleberry, Polly, Nutella, Lotus, Daisy, Derek Morgan, Marvin, Dim Sum, Terry, Biscoff, Spencer Reid, Bella, Keira, Dixie, Mabel, Dory, Apricot, Peanut & Butter, Adelaide, JJ & Emily Prentiss, Meredith & Salem, Benjy & Misty, Marmalade, Steve & Boo, and finally three from our Mexican-themed room – Nacho, Olive and Salsa!
Each one of these adoptions makes space for the many animals still waiting for their chance. But with the ongoing kitten crisis, we continue to urge everyone to spread the word about the importance of neutering. Preventing unwanted litters is the most effective way to ease the growing pressure on sanctuaries like ours.
As fireworks season begins, please remember to keep your pets safe and secure indoors – loud bangs and bright flashes can be frightening for many animals.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has adopted, donated, or supported us this month. Your kindness helps transform lives every single day, and we couldn’t do this vital work without you.
