As summer bids us farewell and the first hints of autumn start to fill the air, we hope you made the most of the final bank holiday before Christmas. The days are getting shorter, with the sun noticeably setting before 8 PM for those evening dog walks, a sign that we’re moving toward the cosy months ahead.
But even as the seasons change, we have plenty of heartwarming stories from the Sanctuary to brighten your day.
August may have come and gone, but our record-breaking rehoming efforts have shown no signs of slowing down.
In fact, last month alone, we were thrilled to find new homes for 97 animals.
The very first of these was Missy, a sweet 6-year-old cat. Not long after, Zeus, a charming tabby, followed her out the door. From there, things really took off, with an impressive 70 more cats and kittens finding their forever homes.
Let us introduce you to some of these record-breaking felines. With names that reflect the creativity and fun we’ve had with our recent litters, we welcomed Maggie, Dusty & Cassie; Opal, Amethyst & Lazuli; Boon & Honor; Fay, Dobby, and Eeyore; Beryl, Mercy, Bambi & Thumper; Ash & Oran; Vera, Rey, Venus & Mars; Skywalker, Organa, Macaw, Sloth & Capybara; Lola, Cassie & Grace; Tilly & Millie; Buffalo, Lion & Hippo; Faline, Flower, Bambina, Patchy, Sandy, Xanthe; Corlys & Tyland; Lynx, Shane, Sushi, Tango, Juniper & Jester; Daemon, Rick, Rhaenyra & Aegon; Simba, Blue & Oreo; Dale, Princess, Angel & Tiggs; Cassia, Tyson & Twix; Criston, Rocky, Loki, Magnus, Boo, Oreo, Ocean, Maple & Pearl.
The dog team also celebrated a fantastic month, with 13 dogs finding their perfect new homes.
Coco was the first to leave, followed by Buster, whose story you may know from social media. After four operations and five months with us, this resilient Bulldog finally joined his loving new family. Martha, the timid little Shih-Tzu, found her place midway through August, and as the month drew to a close, Rally, Ruby, and more found their way to new beginnings.
Rabbit lovers will be delighted to hear that four of our Big Bang bunnies—Sheldon, Howard, Mr. Wolowitz, and Bernard—went home together.
Just a few days later, Mopsy and Tiggywinkles also left as a bonded pair. Harmony, Custard, and Chase completed their journey from our care and are now happily settled in their respective homes.
Even with these wonderful rehomings, our Sanctuary remains full, with our dedicated team working tirelessly to care for the next group of animals you’ll meet in our future updates.
A huge thank you to our incredible team, who work seven days a week, rain or shine, to make these happy endings possible!
