You'll also be helping our animals at the same time. We're 100% donor-funded and everything you generously purchase means we're able to continue our mission to rehome Oxfordshire's most vulnerable animals. 🐶

We're open 10-4, Monday to Saturday. 🕙
Find us at: 122 Broadway, Didcot, OX11 8AB 📍

Duties will include working alongside our rabbit team and helping to clean the rooms of our resident indoor rabbits. Ideally, we are looking for volunteers to help for 2-3 hours per morning.

We have vacancies on the following days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

I need space... Just because some dogs like other I need space... Just because some dogs like other dogs doesn't mean every dog is the same.

Some dogs really struggle when approached by an unfamiliar dog yet sadly, some allow their dogs to do this without any consideration for the other dog or their human companion. It can become something that some dog owners literally dread every time they take their dog for a walk yet these are meant to be enjoyable times 😔

Please remember there are multiple reasons why you shouldn't allow your dog to run over to another dog:

🐶 They may be ill
🐶 They may be old
🐶 They may be in training
🐶 The dog may be nervous
🐶 They may have had bad life experiences
🐶 It reinforces bad habits
🐶 Not all dogs are friendly and do not want to be approached.
🐶 It teaches your dog to pull towards every dog they see.
🐶 If dogs are not introduced carefully both dogs are put in danger.
🐶 Dogs on the lead may develop frustration/fear/excitement when approached by an off lead dog, this can lead to the dog pulling or lunging which can be dangerous for both the dog and the owner.

Remember, socialising your dog is not about quantity it’s about quality, great interactions with other dogs are far more valuable than meeting lots of dogs.

If you are out walking your dog, please remember not all dogs want to be approached. Some may even be wearing the “I need space” jacket or lead, please respect their needs and wishes 💖

Just taking one simple action could make a differe Just taking one simple action could make a difference to our wildlife 🦔🦉

During the hot weather, please remember to help the wildlife in your local area. Here are a few ideas:

💦 Place various large shallow water bowls around the garden.

🐝 By putting stones in the water you are allowing Bees and other insects access to water.

🦔 Place meaty cat or dog food down for our little nocturnal friends.

🕊 Keep bird baths topped up with fresh water. This allows the birds to cool down as well as a drinking supply.

🐸 Provide shade where possible ie logs, rockeries and tall grass.

🦉 Top up bird feeders to help those who may be struggling to find food.

🦡 If you are concerned a wild animal may be suffering from heat stroke or injured in some way. Please call your local wildlife rehabilitation centre first to seek advice.

With temperatures set to soar this week, please re With temperatures set to soar this week, please remember to keep your rabbits cool 😎

Rabbits don't tend to cope as well in the heat as they do in the cold. They aren’t able to regulate their own temperature as we do, they can’t pant or sweat. This means they can overheat but you can help prevent this by doing the following:

💦 Provide plenty of fresh water preferably in a bowl placed in a shaded area.

🥵 Ensure their accommodation isn’t in direct sunlight. You can place sheets around it to give plenty of shade but remember to allow ventilation.

😎 Provide ice pods or frozen bottles for them to lie near. Wrap them in a towel before giving them to them.

🆒 If possible give them a fan but ensure wires are out of their way!!

🐰 Groom them regularly as this will help remove dead fur.

👀 Check on them regularly and monitor any changes in their behaviour.

If at any stage your rabbit stops eating or you are concerned they may have heat stroke, do not delay contact your rabbit savvy vet immediately.

Signs of heat stroke:

🥵 Wetness around the nose or mouth
🥵 Lethargic
🥵 Fast shallow breathing
🥵 Hot ears

Please keep your rabbits as cool as possible 😎

Over the last week, we have taken 15 cats/kittens Over the last week, we have taken 15 cats/kittens into our care. Many of these have come from loving homes where they’ve either fallen into financial difficulties or their companions have sadly passed away 😢

Our amazing team have been working hard to help them settle into the cattery. We use a range of items from Feliway & Pet Remedy adaptors as well as herb gardens to help with stress and anxiety.

Tomorrow is vet day, where The Hart Veterinary Centre in Bicester & Aylesbury will visit the sanctuary to do general health checks, vaccinations and arranges neuters, dentals and any other procedures they may need.

On international cat day, we ask all our supporters if you can afford to donate £1 £5 £10 or £50 to help towards the basic care these cats will need, please consider donating ❤️

https://oxfordshireanimalsanctuary.org.uk/donate/single/

As always, thank you to our supporters without you we wouldn't be here to help those who need us most. 😻

Please keep an eye on our website for our new arrivals who will be going up for adoption once they've been checked by our vets and assessed by our team 🐾
