🚨URGENT Foster Homes Needed 🚨

Do you have space in your heart and home for an elderly cat or two?

We have several seniors who are sadly, not getting any interest. So, to prevent them from staying at the sanctuary for weeks on end. We are seeking foster homes to help give them the home comforts and love they deserve.

Fostering is so rewarding but at the same time, it can be emotionally difficult, especially when they are ready to fly the nest. 😍

Duties may include:
🐈 Giving daily medication
🐈 Giving cuddles
🐈 Being available for potential adoption meets

The sanctuary will provide everything they need whilst in your care. 🐾

We are looking for someone who can offer the following:

✅ Pet-free home
✅ Cat-savvy children
✅ A safe space within the home

We kindly ask for a pet-free home, as our beloved golden oldies are currently feeling the need for space and may not be comfortable sharing their environment with other animals. Since they may require a longer-term foster home, it’s important to ensure they have the freedom to move around without being confined to just one room. 🏡

All foster carers must be able to drive to the sanctuary and in the event of an emergency travel to The Hart Veterinary Centre in Bicester & Aylesbury

Kevin came into our care after he was found as a stray. 😢

Thankfully, he found a kind member of the public who was able to care for him until we were able to offer him one of our cosy rooms. 😍

Kev is a handsome lad who is settling in well. At first, he can come across as a little shy but it’s not long before his confidence starts to shine through. 💖

He loves attention from his human caregivers but being a stray we tend not to overwhelm them at the start and gradually build up to cuddles. But he already has picked up the knack of chin tickles very quickly!! 🥰

Thirteen-year-old Dingbat arrived at the sanctuary after she found life a little stressful when the grandchildren would frequently visit and equally wasn’t happy living with her feline companion. 😢

Dingbat is one of those who knows her own mind and knows what she wants! After all, she is an older lady so has every right to be a little cantankerous!! 🤣

Saying that, she does have arthritis and is carrying a little more weight than we’d like (we haven’t told her that!!) so this could all be pain-related. 🙏

She is currently on pain medication to help manage this condition. She’s also on a strict diet to help lose that extra weight. 🙂

In the correct home, she has the potential to be a sweet cat and provide companionship to someone willing to take the hands-off approach until she’s settled in. 🥰

Introducing Sir Clive Salmon 🖤 Clive was found

Introducing Sir Clive Salmon 🖤

Clive was found in the middle of a road in Oxford as a tiny eight-week-old kitten. Thankfully, his kind-hearted finder handed him over to the sanctuary. 😍

We decided to put Clive into one of our foster homes, he had conjunctivitis and needed some time to recover as well as getting used to be handled by humans. 🥰

Sir Clive Salmon has done amazingly well with his foster parents, who have shown him love and affection from day one. 💖

Here's a few words from his foster mum:

“He now enjoys play time, sitting on laps and cuddles, even with the children. I think he may relapse a little when first in a new home, but with his trusty squeaky mouse fishing rod toy, and a little meat for rewards, he will soon be purring his way into his new family's hearts.

He has lovely manners and has never scratched or bitten, even when scared. Gain his trust through mutual respect and he'll be your best friend. He's been desperate to meet the animals that live here so I think he would adore a friendly, playful, confident cat to live with, and even a calm cat-savvy dog too with the right introductions. He's been great with the children, who can be very noisy and boisterous at times, so as long as they understand that he will need time, patience and understanding, I have no doubt he would settle in with cat savvy children from 2 or years old up too."

Just a quick update about Marlow.

She has settled very well now, she loves spending time with her sister Willow ( the cat).😻

Last week was her birthday! She was truly spoiled with lots of toys, treats and cuddles of course. 🥰

She had a homemade birthday cake 🎂 and lots of visitors. 🎉

Please meet seven-year-old Dottie 🤍

Dottie came to our sanctuary after the sad passing of his human companion. Understandably, this has been a difficult transition for him. 💔

However, by providing Dottie with time and space to adjust to his new surroundings, we’ve had the joy of watching his personality blossom. 😻

Mr Dott as he’s become known by the team here at the sanctuary loves his socialising time. 😍

He will instantly stroll out of his hide box for fuss, his favourite activity is to roll around on his back with his tummy exposed, this is a sign of trust and he will do it to those he has quickly built a relationship with. 🥰

Having long fur, he will need a dedicated human to help keep his coat in good condition. 🪮

He is currently on a pain trial for mild arthritis to see if this helps to improve his ability to groom. If this is successful the monthly costs will be around £25 for his medication. 💊

Mr Dott needs the following type of home 🏡

🐶 Cannot live with a dog
🏠 Indoor only

The news we didn’t think we would be sharing thi

The news we didn’t think we would be sharing this Saturday morning. 💔

Sadly, little Alfie drifted into his eternal sleep on Thursday. No words can describe how shocked we were when we couldn’t wake him up. 😢

Being a stray it was hard to know his true age, we knew he was an older boy but not for one minute were we thinking this was going to happen. 💔

The last three weeks of Alfie’s life were spent being loved by all the team at Hampden Veterinary Hospital
as well as the endless love and affection the team here at the sanctuary showed him. ❤️

We are devastated that this adorable lad never got to find his forever home but we are so grateful that he left this world feeling loved, feeling warmth and knowing he had access to food. 💖

We will miss you so much Alfie, although you have only been in our care for a few days you have left paw prints on all of our hearts. 🌹
