Snowey

From: £5.00 / month

Snowey came to us in 2014, a white Pygmy goat with the unshakeable belief that he is in charge of everything.

He’s the loudest of our goat gang, the most opinionated about mealtimes, and by a long way the biggest fan of having the sides of his face scratched. Underneath the bluster, he’s a softie with a heart of gold.

Did you know:

  • Pygmy goats are one of the smallest goat breeds in the world. They originated in West Africa and typically weigh no more than 40kg, which doesn’t stop them believing they are the tallest, loudest, and most important animal in any given room.
  • Goats have rectangular pupils, which give them almost 320 degrees of peripheral vision. This is how Snowey always knows when someone’s opened the food bin, even if they’re being very quiet about it.
  • Goats are surprisingly good climbers. In the wild, some species can scale near-vertical cliffs and even climb trees to reach tasty leaves.

Snowey’s Story

Snowey came to us in 2014 alongside his brother Cosmo. They’d been living at a school, in a setup that wasn’t really built for goats, and they needed proper shelter, proper space, and a proper diet. So they came to OAS.

Cosmo sadly passed away in 2024, but Snowey has carried on with all the quiet dignity of a goat who firmly believes he is in charge.

He used to be the undisputed leader of the goat gang, until Bailey arrived and staged a quiet coup. Snowey is still, frankly, processing this development.

You’ll often find him standing just outside the stable, chin raised, surveying the territory he still considers his empire. He runs on a very precise internal clock set to mealtimes, and if breakfast or dinner is so much as a minute late, he will tell you.

Loudly. Repeatedly.

For all the bluster, though, he’s a softie. Scratch the sides of his face and he melts on the spot. There’s a heart of gold under there, even if he’d rather you didn’t tell anyone.
